Basketball Game Preview: Jasper Eagles vs. McAuley Catholic Warriors

The Jasper Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the McAuley Catholic Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Jasper has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while McAuley Catholic will come in with five straight victories.

Jasper is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 66 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Lockwood on Friday. They were dealt a 54-20 loss at the hands of the Tigers. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, McAuley Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Sarcoxie on Friday, taking the game 46-34.

McAuley Catholic's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Jasper, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Jasper was able to grind out a solid win over McAuley Catholic in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 41-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jasper since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
