Soccer Game Preview: Glenvar vs. Poquoson

The Glenvar Highlanders will take on the Poquoson Islanders at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Glenvar is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 17 games.

Glenvar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Central Wise get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Glenvar, who have now won 16 matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Central Wise with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sawyer Wilson, Davin Tate, and Camryn Stevens.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Poquoson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a goal and slipped past Riverheads 1-0. Give Poquoson's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Glenvar's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those ten games. As for Poquoson, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Glenvar was able to grind out a solid win over Poquoson in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Islanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
