Baseball Game Preview: West Haven Blue Devils vs. Shelton Gaels

The West Haven Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Shelton Gaels at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, West Haven didn't have quite enough to beat Cheshire and fell 6-5. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Connor Hume was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was his first of the season. Jose Padilla was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, while Shelton put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Wilbur Cross. The Gaels blew past the Governors 10-0. The Gaels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

West Haven's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Shelton, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-8.

West Haven skirted past Shelton 6-4 in their previous matchup last Saturday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
