Basketball Recap: Cannon County has no trouble against Grundy County

Basketball Recap: Cannon County Lions vs. Grundy County Yellowjackets

The Cannon County Lions can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Monday. They blew past Grundy County 70-44. Given Cannon County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, Grundy County saw an underclassman step up: Kallie Parson dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Parson has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasadee Crabtree, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.

Cannon County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Grundy County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Cannon County will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings/Viqueens at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Community focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday. As for Grundy County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Van Buren County is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
