Basketball Recap: Seneca Red Hawks vs. Sacred Heart Valkyries
Seneca and Sacred Heart squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Seneca had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Sacred Heart Valkyries, falling 78-14. While losing is never fun, the Red Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Valkyries are ranked first).
Janell Julue was Seneca's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Arionna Tunstall held things down on the boards with four rebounds.
Sacred Heart was led to victory by ZaKiyah Johnson and Bri Wilkins. Johnson went 6-for-11 on her way to 13 points in addition to four steals and three blocks, while Wilkins shot 88% from the field en route to 16 points and three steals. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last 16 games she's played. Amirah 'Tootie' Jordan was another key player, putting up eight points along with five assists and three steals.
