Baseball Recap: Denton Gets the Win

Denton won the last time they faced Heritage and things went their way on Saturday too. Denton came out on top against Heritage by a score of 8-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Broncos.

The team relied heavily on Derek Perez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Denton is 2-1 when Perez posts two or more runs, but 5-7-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Felts, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Denton's win bumped their record up to 7-8-2. As for Heritage, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when Denton Broncos duke it out with Grapevine Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heritage, they will venture away from home to square off against Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage is facing Memorial at the right time seeing as Memorial is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
