Basketball Game Preview: Chesterton Trojans vs. Wawasee Warriors

The Chesterton Trojans will square off against the Wawasee Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chesterton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.

Chesterton is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Valparaiso just ended the team's four-game winning streak two weeks ago. They had to suffer through a 63-35 loss at the hands of the Vikings.

Kenedi Bradley put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 13 points along with six assists and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Wawasee ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Central Noble by a score of 54-45. The team ran away with 28 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.

Wawasee's win came from a few key players Chesterton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mackenzie Hackleman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. She has become a key player for Wawasee: the team is 10-1 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Horn, who put up 15 points and seven rebounds.

Wawasee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Wawasee's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Chesterton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chesterton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wawasee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.1 boards.
