Softball Recap: Barnwell Takes a Loss

Barnwell has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.27 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 11-5 to the Woodland Wolverines. Warhorses fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolverines since on Friday.

Jaidyn Devore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and ten unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brianna Croft was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Genesis Walker was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Barnwell's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Woodland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Barnwell nor Woodland have any future games scheduled.
