Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Squires vs. Whitko Wildcats

The Manchester Squires will face off against the Whitko Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Manchester is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Manchester and DeKalb, and DeKalb kept the tradition alive. The Squires fell 8-3 to the Barons on Saturday.

Ethan Hendrix made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Reiss Gaerte, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Whitko's offense. They came up short against Greenwood Christian Academy on Saturday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Manchester's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Whitko, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Manchester took their win against Whitko when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Squires have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
