Softball Game Preview: Logansport Tigers vs. Grace Christian Warriors

The Logansport Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Grace Christian Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Logansport proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Oakdale get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since March 3rd.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Indians 3-1.

Rylee Guillot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wynnlee Vincent, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Grace Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Logansport, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Logansport hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Grace Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
