Softball Recap: Westlake Wins Going Away Against Lone Peak

Westlake got themselves on the board against Lone Peak on Thursday, but Lone Peak never followed suit. They blew past the Knights 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Audrey Sherman was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kinzie Bailey, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Westlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Lone Peak, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Westlake will take on Cedar Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aviators have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Lone Peak, they will challenge American Fork at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
