Volleyball Preview: Nokomis Warriors vs. Messalonskee Eagles
On Tuesday Nokomis will have to hit the road after three straight games at home. They will venture away from home to square off against the Messalonskee Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Nokomis came up short against Gardiner and fell 3-1. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18.
Despite the defeat, Nokomis got top-tier performance from Jayden Hood, who had 39 digs and three aces. Hood is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least three every time she's taken the court this season.
Even though they lost, Nokomis was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in seven consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Messalonskee didn't have quite enough to beat Greely on Saturday and fell 3-2.
Nokomis now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Messalonskee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
