Mt. Baldy recap Oct. 3, 2012

Colony was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in Mt. Baldy. Earlier in the week, the Titans triumphed over Ontario 42-21.

Chaffey moved up to 420 from 463 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make the jump by beating Montclair 35-3.

The Jaguars' dynamic duo of Jacob Estrada and Robert Butanda proved tough for Colony to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Estrada threw for 353 yards and one touchdown and Butanda had 105 yards receiving. Christian Beltran helped Ontario's passing attack out by catching five balls for 98 yards.

Jesus Rebolledo was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 236 yards as Chaffey fell to Steve Randall's team. James Oxier also contributed to the rushing game with 74 yards on the ground.

Ronald Stocking Jr.'s team's Estrada and Beltran have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mt. Baldy in both passing and receiving yards. Estrada has thrown for 1021 yards this season, while Beltran, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 19 catches for 423 yards. The Titans' Samjie Grant leads the league in rushing yards with 714.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Garey takes on the Cavaliers. As it stands, the Vikings are in second, while Montclair is in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Chino takes on Chris Brown's team. The Cowboys have allowed 55 points this season, while the Tigers have given up 119. Chino allowed 6 points last week as it topped Don Lugo.
