Jasmyne Lloyd leads a balanced attack to beat Manning

Recap: East Clarendon Wolverines vs. Manning Monarchs

The East Clarendon Wolverines won the last time they faced the Manning Monarchs, and things went their way on Wednesday too. East Clarendon came out on top against Manning by a score of 38-29. Given East Clarendon's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Manning is ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Clarendon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jasmyne Lloyd, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Lloyd pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cherish Cochran, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Manning lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aysia Moore, who scored ten points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Ashanti McLeod, who scored five points along with three steals.

East Clarendon's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-1. As for Manning, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.

East Clarendon will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Stall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stall will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Manning won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hartsville at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th.
