Softball Recap: Selma Bears vs. Kingsburg Vikings

Selma extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 11-13-1 in the process. They lost 11-1 to the Kingsburg Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 back in April.

Selma saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Galaviz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

As for Kingsburg, the win got them back to even at 12-12. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Kingsburg's side, Alyanna 'Yaya' Gonzales made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Gonzales was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Parker Woods was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Ava Irigoyen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As of now, neither Selma nor Kingsburg have any future games scheduled.
