Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Hills Patriots vs. Evansville Memorial Tigers

Heritage Hills is 1-9 against Evansville Memorial since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Patriots will take on the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Heritage Hills will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Heritage Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Boonville.

Peyton Gray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four contests. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Andersen Smith was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Evansville Memorial not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1st (when they won 10-0). They put the hurt on Mt. Vernon with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Heritage Hills' record now sits at 21-7. As for Evansville Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Heritage Hills skirted past Evansville Memorial 9-8 when the teams last played on Thursday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
