Recap: Eastside Early College Panthers vs. LBJ Austin Jaguars
This season hasn't been kind to The Eastside Early College Panthers, who are still winless after their ninth match. They were beaten by LBJ Austin 75-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Eastside Early College can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1197th, while LBJ Austin is ranked 443rd).
LBJ Austin was led to victory by Ali Scott and Caleb Crenshaw. Scott threw for 161 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, while Crenshaw rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Crenshaw is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Treawn Young-henderson was another key contributor, gaining 72 total yards and two touchdowns.
Eastside Early College's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.6 points per game. As for LBJ Austin, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Eastside Early College will head out on the road to face off against McCallum at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McCallum knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Eastside Early College likes a good challenge. As for LBJ Austin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crockett at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crockett is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
