Baseball Recap: Onekama Comes Up Short

Onekama managed to slip by Buckley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Portagers came up short against the Bears on Thursday, falling 15-9. The Portagers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Onekama saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bennett Zeller, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Zeller has become a key player for the Portagers: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Another was Andrew Hybza, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Onekama's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Buckley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14.

While Onekama had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
