Basketball Recap: Huntington North Comes Up Short

Huntington North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 58-38 to Tippecanoe Valley. The game marked Huntington North's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Huntington North lost, don't look at Dalton Husband. Despite the final result, he on his way to 17 points. The contest was Husband's third in a row with at least 16 points. Ethan Zahn was another key player, to rack up 12 points.

Leading Tippecanoe Valley to victory were Ian Cooksey and Stephen Akase. Cooksey en route to 21 points and five boards, while Akase on his way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Cooksey has scored at least a third of Tippecanoe Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deondre Hamilton, who posted ten points and three steals.

Huntington North's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Tippecanoe Valley, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Looking ahead, Huntington North will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Wayne Canterbury at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tippecanoe Valley, they have already played their next game, a 54-49 victory against Kokomo on the 22nd.
