Softball Recap: Autauga Academy Has No Trouble Against Briarwood Christian

Autauga Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Briarwood Christian on Saturday. The Generals were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Lions. Considering the Generals have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Autauga Academy let Teonna Davis and Lynzie Burgin run wild. Davis scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Burgin went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Burgin's first of the season. Madison Johnson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Autauga Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Briarwood Christian only posted an OBP of .308.

Autauga Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Briarwood Christian, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10-1.

Looking ahead, Autauga Academy will take on Jemison in a tournament on Saturday. As for Briarwood Christian, they will be playing at home against Sylacauga at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
