Football Recap: Pecos Starts off Right with Win over Snyder

Pecos gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Snyder Tigers by a score of 36-28. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Among those leading the charge was Omar Salgado Jr, who rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Pecos proved: they limited Snyder to a paltry 0.6 yards per carry. While two picked up at least three total tackles, Juan Ornelas stood above the rest. He picked up three sacks and made three total tackles. Pecos didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.7.

Pecos' defense didn't let Seth Cooper., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Ornelas was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself. Joel Aguilar was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making six total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Despite the loss, Snyder still got an impressive performance from Cooper, who threw for 311 yards and four TDs.

Looking ahead, Pecos will square off against Levelland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Snyder, they will challenge Lake View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
