Baseball Game Preview: Florida Christian Patriots vs. St. Brendan Sabres

The Florida Christian Patriots will challenge the St. Brendan Sabres at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Florida Christian has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Friday, Florida Christian had just enough and edged out JC Bermudez Doral 4-3.

Jacob Lopez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Adrian Diaz was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Jimenez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, St. Brendan came up short against Varela on Monday and fell 9-5.

St. Brendan also got a good showing from Henry Perera, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the first time Perera hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in February.

On the hitting side, Kevin Leon was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Diego Alvarez, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Florida Christian's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for St. Brendan, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
