Softball Recap: Bonanza Bengals vs. Sierra Vista Mountain Lions

Sadly, Bonanza is still looking for their first win of the season after 14 games. They fell victim to a tough 19-4 loss at the hands of the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bonanza of the 14-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

Abbie Mitok was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and a triple.

On Sierra Vista's side, Monae Lafayette looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Makayla Sledge was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Taryn Thomson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Bonanza will head out on the road to square off against Doral Academy Red Rock at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sierra Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Basic at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Basic will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Sierra Vista surely won't give up without a fight.
