Softball Recap: Marksville Wins Going Away Against Vidalia

While Marksville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Vidalia Vikings 13-0 on Thursday. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Katie Lachney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-5. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Marksville got a massive performance out of Kamorah Carter, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Carter's first of the season. Kristen Lachney was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Marksville and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Vidalia, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marksville will square off against David Thibodaux at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vidalia, they will face off against Delta Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
