The Ansonia Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the National Trail Blazers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ansonia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Ansonia came out on top against Newton Local on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Tigers put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Ansonia got a great performance from Bre Walker as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Ansonia let Addie Geyer and Miley Walls run wild. Geyer went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles, while Walls went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Walls a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avalyn Locke, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Ansonia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, National Trail came up short against Tri-Village on Wednesday, falling 23-1. The loss continues a trend for the Blazers in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.
National Trail saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eva Swartsell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
National Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Ansonia, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
National Trail's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ansonia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. It's a different story for National Trail, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Ansonia's hitters?
Everything went Ansonia's way against National Trail when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Ansonia made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
