Baseball Recap: Davenport Comes Up Short

Davenport managed to slip by Poinciana the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Davenport Broncos lost 16-5 to the Poinciana Eagles on Thursday. The Broncos just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Davenport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Escalera, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. Escalera has become a key player for Davenport: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-11 otherwise. Jacob Bishop also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Davenport's record now sits at 3-12. As for Poinciana, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Davenport will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tenoroc at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Davenport is facing Tenoroc at the right time seeing as Tenoroc is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. Poinciana will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Gateway at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
