Basketball Recap: Manning Takes a Loss

Manning suffered their biggest loss since February 7, 2024 on Friday. They lost 59-38 to the Lake City Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Panthers are ranked 75th).

Lake City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Riles, who posted 12 points and four steals. Riles has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Na'Shira Starks was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Manning has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Lake City, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing East Clarendon the next time they take the court. Manning will host East Clarendon at 12:00 p.m. on January 25th, while Lake City will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th.
