Baseball Game Preview: Gloucester County Tech vs. Gloucester Catholic Rams

Gloucester County Tech hasn't had much luck against Gloucester Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Gloucester County Tech will head out on the road to square off against Gloucester Catholic at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Thursday, Gloucester County Tech came up short against Glassboro and fell 7-2. Gloucester County Tech has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gloucester County Tech saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Willie Popoff, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Gloucester Catholic faced Cherokee in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rams fell 4-1 to the Chiefs. That makes it the first time this season the Rams have let down their home crowd.

Jackson Smallets was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

Gloucester County Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Gloucester Catholic, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 15-2.

Gloucester County Tech might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Gloucester Catholic in their previous matchup back in April. Can Gloucester County Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
