Martin turns things around after tough road loss

Recap: Martin Tigers vs. Winn Mavericks
There's no place like home for the Martin Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They managed a 33-29 victory over Winn on Friday. For Martin, this counts as revenge for the 41-32 defeat Winn walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2018.
Martin had a senior duo take command as Kiara Gonzalez scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals and Shelby Botello scored 9 points along with 9 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gonzalez has scored at least 25% of Martin's points.
Martin pushed their record up to 9-13 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Winn, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martin will take on Palmview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winn, they will head out on the road to face off against Laredo LBJ at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laredo LBJ is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
