Basketball Game Preview: Maeser Prep Academy Lions vs. St. Joseph Jayhawks

Maeser Prep Academy is 1-6 against St. Joseph since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Maeser Prep Academy Lions will host the St. Joseph Jayhawks at 7:00 p.m.

Last Thursday, Maeser Prep Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 36-30 to Waterford.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lillian Nolan, who posted 14 points and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Autumn Dossey, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Maeser Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Joseph, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 45-13 win over American Leadership Academy. The Jayhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 32 points or more this season.

St. Joseph has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Maeser Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
