Volleyball Recap: Plainfield Falls Despite Big Games from Paige Sears and Shae Valentin

It was a good run, but Plainfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Montville Wolves by a score of 3-2. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Plainfield took Montville into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-14, 25-15, 21-25, 15-8.

Plainfield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Shae Valentin, who had 38 digs and two aces, and Paige Sears, who had five digs and two aces. Sears is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 11 games she's played.

Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Montville, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainfield will host East Lyme at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Montville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Griswold at 5:30 p.m.
