Baseball Recap: Central Cabarrus' Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Central Cabarrus made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Rowan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vikings were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Raiders on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Andre Vaughn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Vaughn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Tellis Bumgarner looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Central Cabarrus is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-11 otherwise.

Vaughn wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Parsons, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Parsons posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Bryson Pate also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-12. As for South Rowan, they dropped their record down to 11-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Central Cabarrus will face off against Lake Norman Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
