Basketball Recap: Widefield Piles Up the Points Against Harrison

Widefield was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Harrison on Saturday. The Widefield Gladiators claimed a resounding 67-35 victory over the Harrison Panthers. The Gladiators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Isabella Monk was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 41 points and ten rebounds. She has become a key player for Widefield: the team is 8-1 when she posts at least 15 points, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariah Ortiz, who posted seven points and three steals.

Widefield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They are 10-4 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Despite the loss, Harrison still got an impressive performance from Nadia Turnipseed, who put up 13 points along with six boards and three steals. That was a full 37.1% of Harrison's points, marking the fourth time in a row Turnipseed has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Widefield moved to 14-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Harrison, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Widefield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-43 loss against Pueblo County on the 26th. Harrison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
