Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey St. Martin Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Haze Massey and Lebron Massey

Cristo Rey St. Martin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Sunday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 76-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (56), the CRSM still had to take the loss.

Cristo Rey St. Martin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lebron Massey, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten boards, and Haze Massey, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Lebron's afternoon made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Cristo Rey St. Martin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Cristo Rey St. Martin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Zion-Benton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.

Cristo Rey St. Martin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-59 win against Westlake Christian Academy on the 13th. As for Zion-Benton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-39 loss against Stevenson on the 15th.
