Daniel Subish was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Manny Lopez was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ramona). Everything went their way against Castle Park on Friday as they made off with a 21-1 victory. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Like Valley Center, Ramona also got a great game from a two-way player: Jacob Parker. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Parker was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other pitching news, Alex Wilson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Derek Taylor, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Tallon Ogilive was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Ramona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Valley Center's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Ramona, their record is now 8-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Valley Center has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ramona struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Valley Center beat Ramona 4-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
