Baseball Game Preview: Antioch Bears vs. LaVergne Wolverines

The Antioch Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the LaVergne Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Antioch knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully LaVergne likes a good challenge.

Antioch couldn't beat Ezell-Harding Christian on Thursday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the second inning. The Bears lost 21-10 to the Eagles.

Amari Peters made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Santonio Nelson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, LaVergne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Blackman, falling 7-1.

Antioch's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for LaVergne, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

LaVergne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Antioch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .538. It's a different story for LaVergne, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Antioch's hitters?

Antioch came out on top in a nail-biter against LaVergne in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 13-12. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
