Basketball Game Preview: North Greene Spartans vs. Calhoun Warriors

North Greene is 0-10 against Calhoun since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The North Greene Spartans will welcome the Calhoun Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, North Greene turned things around against First Baptist Academy on Monday. They blew past First Baptist Academy 51-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted since December 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, Calhoun entered their tilt with Madison on Thursday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They took down the Trojans 63-46. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Trojans are ranked 479th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calhoun has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for North Greene, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-13.
