Basketball Recap: Beach Bulldogs vs. Liberty County Panthers
The Beach Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-56 to Liberty County. While losing is never fun, Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Panthers are ranked 131st).
Beach's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Newton, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Newton pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ke'juan Lindsay, who scored ten points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Beach and nudges their season record down to 7-14. As for Liberty County, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
Beach will take on the Atomsmashers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season. As for Liberty County, they will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
