Baseball Recap: Newton Comes Up Short

Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They fell 10-6 to the Bettendorf Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 on Saturday.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Bettendorf, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Newton will venture away from home to challenge Gilbert at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bettendorf, they will host Muscatine at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
