Softball Recap: Daniel Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Daniel ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pickens Blue Flame, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted against the Blue Flame since April 21, 2017.

Addy Fraser spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maddie Iams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Bryn Chasteen was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Daniel's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Pickens, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Daniel will welcome Walhalla at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions are facing the Razorbacks at the right time seeing as the Razorbacks are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Pickens, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Seneca at 6:00 p.m. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Blue Flame surely won't give up without a fight.
