Volleyball Recap: South Mountain's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

South Mountain posted their closest victory since April 6, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Camelback Spartans 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

South Mountain was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 22-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13.

South Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Camelback, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. South Mountain will face off against rival Maryvale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Camelback is set to challenge their familiar foe Cesar Chavez at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
