Baseball Recap: Mabel-Canton Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mabel-Canton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past the Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander Superlarks 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Superlarks on Saturday, they had to take a 13-3 defeat.

Milton Hutchinson was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. Mabel-Canton is 2-1 when Hutchinson posts three or more RBI, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josh Whitney, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Mabel-Canton pushed their record up to 8-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Mabel-Canton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-4 defeat against United South Central on the 11th. Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
