Jason Burke made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Burke was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Southside Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jonah Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Southside Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Nathan Cook was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Southside Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Greenville Christian Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They lost 12-2 to Eastern Christian HomeSchool.
Greenville Christian Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Heath, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Heath has hit this season.
Southside Christian pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Greenville Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southside Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greenville Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Southside Christian might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Greenville Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
