Recap: Lake Norman Wildcats vs. Alexander Central Cougars

The Lake Norman Wildcats extended their postseason success on Tuesday against the Alexander Central Cougars. They walked away with a 50-38 victory over the Cougars. Winning may never get old, but Lake Norman sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Leading Lake Norman to victory were Alexis Shehan and Samantha Shehan. Shehan dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Shehan scored 19 points. Shehan is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Rhyne, who scored seven points.

Alexander Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Jack, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jack has scored all season. Malayah Adams was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists.

Alexander Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Lake Norman pushed their record up to 26-2 with that victory, which was their 32nd straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.8 points. As for Alexander Central, their loss dropped their record down to 22-7.

Lake Norman will play host again and welcome Charlotte Catholic, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully Lake Norman likes a good challenge.
