Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Horizon's Winning Streak

Horizon lost against Legacy back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hawks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lightning. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Horizon started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-15.

Melanie Breeds paced Horizon's offense, picking up eight kills. Breeds got some help from Annalee Young and her 28 assists.

Horizon's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Legacy, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Horizon will face off against rival Niwot at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Legacy is set to square off against their familiar foe Holy Family at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
