Softball Recap: Le Grand Continues Road Dominance on Monday

Le Grand put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let the Denair Coyotes get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Ava Avila was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Crystal Manzo was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisa Angel, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Le Grand always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive games.

Le Grand pushed their record up to 4-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Denair, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 5-4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Le Grand will head out to take on Mariposa County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mariposa County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.55 runs per game on average), something Le Grand will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Denair, they will venture away from home to square off against Modesto Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
