Preview: Follett Panthers vs. Lefors Pirates
Follett is 3-0 against Lefors since February of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Follett Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Lefors Pirates at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Follett has four straight wins, Lefors has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Follett can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They really took it to McLean for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-31 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Follett has posted yet this season.
Maddox Miller and David Meeks were among the main playmakers for Follett as the former scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Meeks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryan Torres, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Lefors suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Miami on the road and fell 78-22. While losing is never fun, Lefors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1705th, while Miami is ranked 624th).
Follett's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Lefors, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Follett against Lefors in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 94-31 win. With Follett ahead 40-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
