Softball Recap: Westside's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Westside had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Wren Hurricanes. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 last Tuesday.

Jazelyn Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Starlyn Clardy, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Madison Gray was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Westside picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 7-5. As for Wren, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.

Westside and Wren will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time Westside sees the field they'll take on Southside at 6:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Wren, their break will end when they face Laurens at 7:00 p.m. on April 8.
