Basketball Recap: Columbia Takes a Loss

Columbia lost against Wharton back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Columbia Roughnecks were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to the Wharton Tigers. The Roughnecks' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wharton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacoryan Dickerson, who went 6 of 9 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Keon Jackson, who posted nine points along with six boards and three steals.

Columbia's record is now 6-11. As for Wharton, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-5.

Columbia and Foster will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wharton, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Needville at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
