Softball Recap: Charles Henderson Comes Up Short

Charles Henderson extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They came up short against the Dothan Wolves, falling 7-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2021.

Charles Henderson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janazia Cantlow, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Cantlow's first of the season.

As for Dothan, they moved to 17-18-1 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Dothan's side, Brantlee McCarthy made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. McCarthy has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sara Harris, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine games. Another player making a difference was Kinley German, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Charles Henderson will head out to square off against Pike Road at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dothan, they will be playing at home against Rehobeth at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
